Website Design, Maintenance, Hosting and Helpful Hints

I provide website design, maintenance and hosting for Professionals, Retail Stores, IT Business and Non-profit Organizations. Full email is available and well as your own ftp account. I use Godaddy.com for domain registration only, Not for hosting. After using many different hosting companies, I have found Hostgator.com to be the best by far in every respect. UPDATE: Hostgator has moved out of the Utah Datacenter and back to Houston where response times and overall reliabilty has significantly improved.

I suggest using Wordpress for blogs, but it is really not the best to use for web sites. The number of plug-ins required make for a cumbersome building process, and very slow loading of pages after completion. Joomla is a much better choice for a website, especially if you plan selling on-line.

Most people new to creating websites think they can put one up and everything is done, but actually they have completed only 50% of the work, because your potential on-line visitors don't know you exist. The process of getting your web site found is called SEO, search engine optimization. There are many good books written on the basics, just make sure they were written in this current year. There are very specific steps you must take to be found by search engines, and many more steps to begin to appear higher up in the ranking, hopefully to begin appearing on the first results page. About 60% of searchers will not look past the first results page, and 90% won't look past the second page. It is not difficult, it is a one step at a time process. No one can guarantee first page ranking results, because Google is always tweaking how they value everyone's web sites. However, following honest best practices with SEO will bring the most consistent results.

The Financial Services and Insurance Industries were the early adopters in using the power of IBM Mainframe computers to improve and computerize their businesses. The computer language at that time was primarily COBOL, with some PL/1, NATURAL, ASSEMBLY and others mixed in. These computers and their programs have in some cases been running for over 30 years. The problem today is most of the programmers who wrote and maintained these hundreds of thousands of programs have retired, creating a nightmare for companies who need to make changes to keep up with current business practices. It is a massive undertaking to migrate these programs to C# or JAVA, since documentation of existing code is often poor. Out of this quagmire was created an amazing COBOL PL/1 Legacy Software Migration and Maintenance Suite that allows modern developers working on old Legacy source code, to easily make changes without risk. All source code is scanned and uniquely compiled in a way that reveals all interdependencies between each and every element of code. These code relationships are held in a specially designed database that runs entirely in Memory. Simple searches take less than 1 second and complex searches minutes. This software even helps developers to extract the embedded business logic from your Legacy Programs. Current customers include Credit Suisse, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Fiducia, Seimens and many other large companies. Call Us Today at (855) 475-2883 to learn how we can help you reduce the extreme expense, uncertainty and time required to complete your Legacy Maintenance and Migration Programs.
